So you still love the GOP eh?

"Bush, Frist Praise Bill That Allows Pregnant Minors To Murder Their Unborn By Abortion"

More conserving by the GOP (HT to Dabney)

When you are right you are right

From the Old Right News; "I mean, seriously, how many 'conservatives' do you know that are entirely against public 'education', welfare, or the multitude of other social institutions and hierarchies that characterize leftism?"

It is funny have the progressive agenda has usurped conservatism and so few have actually complained about it.

Ignorance and the Ongoing War Between the States

"In many respects, the War Between the States will never be over. Some contribute this to the talk of reparations for slavery and the ridiculous belief that any symbol of Southern heritage is a symbol of bigotry and hatred. While those things may be symptoms, they are not the root cause. The reason for this ongoing conflict is a profound ignorance of Southern culture and the complete lack of understanding for the brave men and women who fought to defend their homeland against an invader."

Patriot Act used against Americans!

"Actually, they should call it the Treason Act. In my opinion, anyone who supports this legislation should be called a traitor, because it runs contrary to the Constitution. And the President takes an oath to defend the Constitution. Bush took that oath and now his flunkies want to renew the Patriot Act (there's a sunset clause on it). What does that tell you? For you Bushies out there, that should tell you that you've been had! Go read a copy of the Constitution sometime, especially the Bill of Rights, and read the oath of office a president takes!"

Random Thoughts on Blogging

It is ironic that we bloggers invariably resort occasionally to blogging about blogging. Some find this offensive. I know from my personal experience that it was helpful to read what others thought about this activity; their lessons learned, successes and failures and what motivates them.

My blogging effort came rather late in the game. I began in December of 2004. By July of 2004 I was ready to give it all up. Going to Iraq forced me to give it up, but I was ready to stop if I had remained.

Let me back up for a bit. Although I began blogging late I have been involved in some sort of digital communication effort hobby for a very long time. Back in the eighties and early nineties I ran a BBS, several BBS systems at one point. Who remembers those?

I was a pretty early adopter of the Net and actually had a site up in 1994. Blogging is something I resisted however. I am not sure why. I suppose I was almost to the point that I believed it impossible to really change opinions on real and big issues.

I have heard many attempts to place folks that blog into two categories, Linkers and Thinkers. La Shawn Barber mentioned a third type in a post that I cannot find now, Pamphleteers. Most of us are a hybrid of two or maybe three of these types. I guess I would fall into the pamphleteer category. Of course on lazy days/weeks I have slipped into the Linker category (not that this is a bad category, some folks find success with linking).

I have had the opportunity to meet some interesting and good people. It is hard, try as we might, to really hide a lot of who we are in our blogs. If you really read what a person has to say long enough you get to know them.

The first person I met was Venomous Kate at Electric Venom. She took an obscure little piece of mine and mentioned it and for the first time I actually got visitors. I became a reader of hers, and eventually a customer of web hosting.

Watching her journey over the last year has been very interesting. She was once an extremely active blogger, combining linking and thinking. I used to wonder how I would ever build an audience such as hers; I simply do not have the time to devote to this that she seemed to spend.

It all caught up with her and got away from her. She had to step away and live life. I miss her, but she taught me much and encouraged me when I wanted to quit.

Soon after meeting Kate I meet the boys over at the Rebel Alliance (Stoney, Arklahomboy and Flannel). In some strange way, although we have never met, I consider them friends. During the unpleasant arguments over ideology last year within the Alliance and the subsequent split, Stoney and Flannel stood solidly beside Arklahomboy. I respect them for that.

More than that, we all share something more. Common values would be the best way I can describe it. Sure we do not agree on everything, but we have never disagreed openly. I am sure that Flannel has a different point of view concerning the best course of action to fix all of our ills but we still support each other. There is much about him that I like and respect, things that reflect in his blog, and core values he cannot hide.

Stoney has always provided words of encouragement when I went out on a limb to proclaim some bold point of view. His was a strong voice for our cause when he had a fire in his belly and I am sure it wil be again someday. And what can I say about Arklahomboy other than he has been posting every few days some bit of relevant information that supports a common theme of thought and supports our cause.

If I have never publically thanked you fellas I am doing so now.

We all get tired of trying to change the world. I am afraid I will grow tired of it one day as well.

Every time I consider that this is pointless I consider the small good I may have done. I think of my most frequent commenter Cicero. Then there is the newest member of the Alliance, Agent Sillyboots. Here is a fellow that seems to have the fire that we all had a year ago and of course The Southern Knight hits it hard as well.

Of course I have to mention my newest blogging friends Dabney and Celtic Lassie (friend long before she started blogging) and Cory for allowing me to talk him into blogging. They have come along just in time to help reignite a fire that might have turned to embers.

I am still unsure if my efforts at pamphleteering will ever actually convince anyone to think like me. This has allowed me to find others that share many of my core values. In a world filled with folks that often do not think like me it is a point not to be ignored.

Words to Ponder

"Government interference always means either violent action or the threat of
such action. Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of
policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen. The essential
feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and
imprisoning. Those who are asking for more government interference are asking
ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom."

Ludwig von Mises

It is still early 2005, we are still thirteen months before the next round of elections. I think now with great sadness of the many good and decent folk that will fervently and strongly support GOP candidates because, heaven forbid the Democrat that opposes them were to win.

We vote for these people because they calim to be conservatives. What does conserve mean if conservatives are out practicing it?

Dictionary. com defines conserve thusly:
a. To protect from loss or harm; preserve: calls to conserve our national heritage in the face of bewildering change.
b. To use carefully or sparingly, avoiding waste

Consider what the conservatives have conserved in this union of states we call the United States.

Have they conserved basic human rights such as the right to life, privacy or freedom from an oppressive taxman?

Have they conserved the appetite of an ever growing government at all levels?

Have they truly conserved The Republic and the Constitution?

They have not and any thinking honest man knows it. There is not a significant difference in the two major parties. So long as the two party system dominates the electorial process and so long as the two major parties travel the same road, in the same direction but simply use different lanes the lie of GOP conservatism will never change anything for the better.

Republicans have held the White House during every term (with the exception of three) since 1969. I was born in 1967, essentially for 95% of my life we have had a Republican president. Have these men conserved anything?

We are so easily beguiled by the occasional few that stand out and seem to say the right things. As a collective we must seriously consider that they have failed miserably to do the right thing.

Good, decent, hardworking Southerners are the chief culprits in this fiasco. A fellow will wave a Yankee flag and proclaim to be for our values and ask for our vote and we dutifully give it to him. After each election the media makes such a grand issue of the red state/blue state differential. The fellows we elect proceed to their offices and enact blue state ideas and principles.

Sure the Republicans tax us and spend our money on different things than the Democrats. Is this really the issue? It is immoral to take money in such large chunks from one man and spend it carelessly. The big leviathan of government we have now was not created by Democrats. (Yes I know they created social welfare 41% of the budget but Republicans have done nothing to reduce this amount significantly AND the other 59% is mostly Republican created).

I am tired of seeing otherwise good people mislead. Every time I visit a good Southern blog and see a Blogs For Bush banner I cringe. I have spent the last year being polite in this regard. This method has worked and in fact I played a small role in convincing a good Southerner of the error of his ways. I will remain polite. I too was once a Republican and it takes time to see the light.

Time is simply something we do not have much of.

How could a decent, liberty loving Christian and Southerner support GW Bush?

He is certainly no friend of the Constitution. We all beat our chest and proclaim with pride how evil and repugnant Lincoln was and what a murderous usurper of power he proved by his actions to be.

Do you honestly think for a minute that the future ramifications of the Patriot Act or the installation of yet another federal police force in the form of Homeland Security will be less than the effect of the treachery of Lincoln? The advance of tyranny resulting from these two actions will be slower but just as acute. More federal power to will eventually lead to oppression (more oppresion I should say).

We damn Lincoln as a war criminal, state that he waged The War unjustly and unconstitutionally, that he suspended habeas corpus. Ask Jose Padilla what the 5th and 6th amendments mean to him. Bush has him locked up without any hope of a trial.

What about that little clause in The Constitution that states only Congress has the power to declare war? If Bush can so easily look over little bits of annoyances like the Constitution he is a traitor to the oath he swore.

Has he done anything real to protect the unborn?

Has Bush done anything to really protect our borders? No in fact he opposed law abiding citizens doing the work the federal governemnt is incapable of performing.

My list could continue and any right minded man knows it. Yet we still support the GOP because they must be better than the Democrats. Hogwash and nonsense is all I can say to that poor excuse for a distinctive lack of character and principles.

It is pointless to worry about silly issues such as which judges are appointted, which bill passes. Worrying about these things only distracts us from the bigger issue. The bigger issue is that things are broken and neither of the major parties has the moral fiber to fix it.

Our solution is simple. We must divorce ourselves from the game. We must refuse to participate or give our votes away to what we believe to be the lesser of two evils. Evil is evil and we can judge the two parties by their rotten fruit.

I do not believe a third party will ever carry the day at the national level. We may find someday that local change is our only recourse. But, alas, the fight is worth it. So long as good men sit by and do nothing we will get exactly what we deserve.

Wake up and claim the heritage of our forefathers and act like men; or lie down like the sheep we have become. But do not complain about the state of affairs or hope for a better tommorow if we as a people cannot drag ourselves out of the slumber we are in and begin to live and act as if we truly inherited the principles and character of all the great Southerners before us.

Proof the Gummit Spies on Us

Spying: Giving Out U.S. Names - Newsweek Periscope - MSNBC.com: "The National Security Agency is not supposed to target Americans; when a U.S. citizen's name comes up in an NSA 'intercept,' the agency routinely minimizes dissemination of the info by masking the name before it distributes the report to other U.S. agencies. But it's now clear the agency disseminates thousands of U.S. names."

YOU MIGHT BE A CONSTITUTIONALIST IF...

For all of you real conservatives still hanging on to hope in the GOP Chuck Baldwin has the answer....

"1. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that elected leaders should really obey the U.S. Constitution.

2. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that before the United States invades and occupies another country, Congress must first declare war.

3. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe the federal government should live within its means, like everyone else is forced to do.

4. You might be a Constitutionalist if you think that taking away people's liberties in the name of security is neither patriotic nor does it make the country more secure.

5. You might be a Constitutionalist if you would like to see politicians be forced to abide by the same laws they make everyone else submit to.

6. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that we have three coequal branches of government that are supposed to hold each other in check and balance.

7. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the federal government has no authority to be involved in education or law enforcement.

8. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that gun control laws do nothing but aid and abet criminals while trampling the rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens.

9. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the income tax is both unconstitutional and immoral and, along with the I.R.S., should be abolished.

10. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe the federal government had no authority to tell Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore that he could not display a monument containing the Ten Commandments in the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery.

11. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that neither Congress nor the White House nor any sovereign state is required to submit to unconstitutional Supreme Court rulings such as Roe v Wade

12. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that freedom has nothing in common with illegal immigration.

13. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that outsourcing American jobs overseas is not good for America.

14. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the United States should get out of the United Nations and get the United Nations out of the United States.

15. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that it is not unconstitutional for children in public schools to pray or read the Bible.

16. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the Boy Scouts are not a threat to America.

17. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the federal government should honor its commitments to America's veterans.

18. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that U.S. troops should never serve under foreign commanders or wear the uniform or insignia of the United Nations.

19. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the federal government has no business bribing churches and faith-based organizations with federal tax dollars.

20. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that federal agents who murder American citizens should be held to the same laws and punishments that any other citizen would be held to.

21. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that NAFTA, GATT, the WTO, and the FTAA are disastrous compromises of America's national sovereignty and independence.

22. You might be a Constitutionalist if you would like to see Congressmen and Senators be required to actually read a bill before passing it into law.

23. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that it is the job of government to protect and secure God-given rights not use its power to take those rights away.

24. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that there is nothing unconstitutional with the public acknowledgement of God and our Christian heritage.

25. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that in the beginning God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

26. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that airport screeners have no business touching women's breasts and confiscating fingernail clippers.

27. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that many public schools' "zero-tolerance" policies are just plain stupid.

28. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that parents have a right to home school their children.

29. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that governmental seizure of private property is plain, old fashioned thievery.

30. You might be a Constitutionalist if you would like to meet one single Congressman or Senator beside Ron Paul who acts as if he or she has ever read the U.S. Constitution. "

Chuck Baldwin -- There Must Never Be Another Waco

"On February 28, 1993, agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) began their illegal assault on the home of the Branch Davidians outside Waco, Texas. An unarmed David Koresh was shot by BATF agents as he stepped onto his front porch. A shootout resulted with several deaths on both sides.

Shortly afterward, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took charge of the situation, and on April 19, 1993, agents from both departments (utilizing military hardware and both U.S. and foreign military advisers) laid siege to the dwellings which resulted in the deaths of 87 American citizens. Most of the victims were old men, women, and small children.

The events at Waco have contributed to the disdain of federal abuse of power like nothing since the Boston Massacre back in 1770. (By comparison, the British killed 5 Americans in that assault.) Moved by grassroots pressure, the Congress of the United States convened special hearings into the conduct of those federal agencies responsible. The result was less than satisfactory to many Americans.

Federal agents lied under oath with impunity. Evidence was conveniently lost. Videotapes of the events revealed duplicity, arrogance, and blood-lust on behalf of the federal agencies involved.....

Whatever one thinks of David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, they had committed no capital crimes. Neither could the charges of child abuse, illegal weapons, or illegal drug activity (charges that were used by the feds to justify their ghastly attack) be substantiated. "

For L.A. homeless: a gym, movies, and hair salon | csmonitor.com

"Opening Monday and trumpeted proudly by city officials is the Midnight Mission - and one of the nation's plushest homeless shelters. The $17 million state-of-the-art facility boasts a full-sized gymnasium, library, playroom, hair salon, education center, and professional kitchen. The shelter is the city's latest effort to address one of its most visible and resistant social problems: the more than 6,000 people who live on the streets."

Think about 17 million dollars for a minute. This is $17 million TAKEN from hardworking folks in the form of taxes.

I have to wonder in the logic of this. It seems to me it would be a far better thing to simply reduce the tax burden by $17 million. An extra chunk of cash would certainly encourage investment in new businesses in the long term.

If the city of Los Angeles is unwilling to wait for trickle down economics to work then another solution would be to create tax breaks and incentives for businesses that operate in this economically depressed area or hire some of these homeless people.

Hand-outs never help anyone, and creating a plush environment for people that have chosen to no longer contribute to society is just plain stupid.

Socialism is running amuck in this country.

Another excellent post by Lee Shelton

Statism, simply put, is worship of the state (i.e., government), and in this country the federal government reigns supreme. No Christian will acknowledge that he or she worships the state, but that is in a sense what is happening, if even on a subconscious level.

Symptoms of this were evident during the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. Many Christian voters saw George W. Bush not as the “lesser of two evils,” but as one who was chosen by God as “the right man at the right time for the right purpose.” Sure, he wasn’t the paragon of conservatism some had hoped for, but he was a professing Christian, and that alone meant that we owed him our devotion.

Then, of course, there was the outpouring of Christian support for the war in Iraq. Despite the fact that Saddam Hussein never once attacked us and posed no threat to our security, evangelicals from all across the fruited plain cried out for blood. The state had been exalted to such a lofty position that those Christians who dared to speak out against the war on moral and constitutional grounds were considered anti-American at best, treasonous at worst.

Shameless Request For Help

I am going to ask for a little help here.

First a disclaimer.

I realize that most of the folks in the world disagree with me. I realize even still that the few folks that read my blog do not agree with me always. I know this. I am going to ask for some assistance in something that I understand most people do not agree with.

Well anyway here it is. As you know I have supported Christian Exodus for the last year, essentially from the first months of its creation. The movement is misunderstood; the principles of Christianity and Constitutionalism are foreign to many. The notion of modern secession in the US (if it came to that) is completely alien; most people would deny that it is a legitimate political remedy.

I want nothing more than a forum for the group to express our goals, objectives and ideas. If once in the public forum our ideas do not carry weight with anyone so be it. I believe that there are others out there that will share in our vision of the world. I assure you we are not dangerous, crazy or a cult. (in fact the group is not a religious group at all but rather a political group of like minded religious folks from all walks of the Christian faith)

In less than a month an article will be published in GQ about the group. There have been several other articles before, after each article there is a buzz of interest and then things die down. I would like to sustain the attention long enough to properly articulate the message.

Recently we started a new blog. It is my hope that in the attention following the GQ article that many people will visit the site and learn a little about what we really believe. The problem is the blog is brand new, not indexed in the search engines and not on the blogsphere radar.

My request is simple. If you have a blog or web site place a link on your site on a high ranking (Google rank) page. Hopefully with enough links in the short term the page will get indexed properly. If you are inclined once the article in GQ appears write a blurb about our blog. It does not matter what you say, agree or disagree. If a minor blogstorm erupts in the aftermath so much the better.

If you really want to help ask your blogging readers to post a link, again it does not matter if they say we are crazy or nuts. Let the message be heard and then let people decide. This is really all I am asking.

I promise not to ask for assistance in the future and I promise to do my best to repay any kindness extended to me in this endeavor. (I also apologize for the shameless request for linkage)

Bolton Pledges to Help Strengthen U.N.

"WASHINGTON (AP) - John R. Bolton, a blunt diplomat whose nomination as U.S. ambassador to the U.N. is opposed by most Democrats and some in the foreign policy establishment, pledged Monday to help strengthen an institution that has occasionally 'gone off track.'
The Bush administration is committed to the success of the U.N., Bolton, the undersecretary of state, said on the first day of his confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He told lawmakers that 'we view the U.N. as an important component of our diplomacy.'"

Really, so this is what the neocons plan as a follow up to their "world tour" in Afghanistan and Iraq...this is what we really need…A STONGER UN. That would fix everything....!!!

Hogwash. The UN is corrupt, out of control, a threat to rightful national sovereignty and a parasite on producing nations.
